Two "Tommies" have now been installed in one of the flowerbeds in the centre of The Parade - one provided by Minehead Town Council and the other by the Freemasons. These were made by military veterans and purchased from the charity "Remembered" which aims to raise very substantial funds to help heal those suffering from the hidden wounds of post-traumatic stress disorder and other lasting legacies of combat by raising funds for The Royal Foundation, Walking with the Wounded, Combat Stress, Help for Heroes, Project Equinox and the Commonwealth War Graves Foundation. Two poppies have kindly been crocheted for Minehead Town Council's Tommy by Minehead Yarners using Exmoor wool. One is crafted from exactly 116 stitches representing the 116 names of the fallen from Minehead in both World Wars
