Crowds were eagerly awaiting the start of the flying displays by the Red Arrows and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight on 14 August, but bad weather and the overcast conditions meant the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight was abandoned along with the Red Devils parachute team display, Only the Sea King Helicopter was able to take to the skies. It was hoped that the event would have better weather next year as the previous three years flying displays had been very successful and had been enjoyed by large crowds who had attended the event.
Minehead Mayor Cllr. Val Welch who attended the event said " she felt particularly sorry for the flag waving youngsters who had been eagerly anticipating the aerial display. It is such a shame as so much work went into the event."
