
![]() On 6 March the Mayor attended the World Day of Prayer Service at Minehead United Reformed Church. The service, originally devised by Christian women in Zimbabwe, was led by people from Minehead Churches and a good congregation appreciated being part of a world-wide day of worship and action. Afterwards the Mayor enjoyed meeting a number of those present over refreshments.
![]() Pictured (from left to right) Cllr Paul Bolton, Mrs Maureen Smith (Chair of WSCLT Board), Michael Eavis and Cllr Sandra Slade On 26 February, the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and other Councillors attended the Annual General Meeting of the West Somerset Community Land Trust where the guest speaker was Michael Eavis, best known as the founder of Glastonbury Festival. Michael spoke of his work in donating land and resources near his farm for affordable social housing. In total 53 homes were built as well as a School and other infrastructure resulting in a successful community being set up. Michael spoke enthusiastically about what had been done and encouraged WSCLT to persevere in their efforts to do similar projects here.
