The Mayor Cllr Val Welch and her husband Tom were invited to attend the formal opening night of the Coleridge Restaurant at Dunkery Beacon Country House in Wootton Courtenay, which they were pleased to accept. The evening began at 7.00 pm and was also attended by Member of Parliament Ian Liddell-Grainger and representatives from local papers and magazines. Sample dishes from the new season a la Carte menu were available for guests to try.
The Mayor Cllr Val Welch attended a function at Wells Cathedral and was pleased to be able to represent Minehead at the ceremony.

The Mayors visited Westland Helicopters and the Yeovil Town Football Club. The Mayor of Minehead Cllr Val Welch was amazed at how clean the Westland Helicopter factory was, she also saw a white helicopter that had its own shower and gold taps. Photograph permission of Yeovil Town Council A Peter Pan drawing and painting competition was open to all local First Schools and the Mayor of Minehead Cllr Val Welch was invited to pick a winner from the seventeen entries, sadly there could only be one winner and the standard was high.
The Mayor was invited to attend the Apprentices Lunch at West Somerset College. The Mayor thought it was an excellent College bringing out the best in their pupils.
