Over eighty people submitted nearly 550 entries at Minehead Flower show which was held at the West Somerset Community College in Alcombe on Saturday 10th August. The event attracted entrants of all ages in a range of classes.
Derek Blay the Show Manager, thanked everyone who had worked so hard in preparing the hall and remarked how lucky they were to have so many flowers considering the dry hot summer. The President of Minehead and District Gardeners Association, Geoff Fuller, praised the many businesses in Minehead which had made the show possible through sponsorship. He introduced David Bryan his predecessor, who presented the cups, before the Mayor, Cllr Val Welch, presented the Minehead Town Cup for the exhibitor with the most points to Robert Forgan.
