PRESS RELEASE – 16th October 2015
This week MTC took delivery of a new STIGA Titian mower from local supplier Tom Williams Garden Machinery. Minehead town clerk Sue Sanders said " The Town Council is committed to obtaining 'best value' and it was decided that our local machinery supplier could achieve this on all aspects of the new mower machine” The new machine is replacing a 6 1/2 year old smaller model which was deemed not fit to do the work now required
Minehead Mayor Jean Parbrook commented " MTC are now doing more and more work that used to be done by both district and county councils, as a result we have invested for the future".
The contract awarded has a value in excess of 20k.
The Chairman of the Town Council Amenities and General Purposes Committee Councillor Gary Miele, whose remit includes grounds maintenance and buildings, was at the delivery site and stated, “When the new machine was first mentioned to my committee as being required we tasked our town clerk in obtaining bids to supply and service this higher spec machine and she has done a great job. This was put to full council for approval with our forward thinking hats on, it is the right machine for current requirements and for the future"
Within half an hour of taking delivery the machine was out working cutting grass verges around the Minehead and Alcombe area.
